Reduction of the environmental impact of the manufacture of mechanized products for the aeronautical sector through the use of preforms obtained with WAAM technologies (Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing). The most striking environmental aspects were both the titanium substrate on which the piece will be made and the titanium wire provided by WAAM technology, which will allow the preform to be generated. Likewise, the energy consumption linked to welding was identified as the most significate in the manufacturing phase of the piece.

A strategy was adopted consisting of reducing the thickness of the substrate and the thickness of the wall of the yarn. This improvement of the process allows an average decrease of 27% of the environmental impacts, decreasing all the categories of environmental impact analyzed, and derived mainly from the reduction of impacts resulting from the use of raw materials.
